The Fireweed Counselling Collective builds capacity to respond to gender-based violence and cultivate a community of care by offering specialized training for stakeholders and community members, and by providing ongoing support and a community of practice for practitioners on the roster.
The Fireweed Counselling Collective (FCC) is a collaborative project located in Labrador, initiated by End Sexual Violence Newfoundland and Labrador and the Mokami Status of Women Council. The FCC is dedicated to re-authoring care as a powerful tool in violence prevention. Our mission is to provide free counselling for those impacted by Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in Labrador. We prioritize care for survivors and also for practitioners and community members providing support, recognizing the importance of collective care in fostering healing and resilience.
Your involvement can follow two paths: you can join the roster to provide direct counselling, or you can take advantage of our training opportunities to deepen your expertise. Both paths allow you to be part of a community that values collective care, mutual support, and professional growth.
Whether you have experience in this area or are eager to expand your knowledge, we invite you to join our growing network. Why join our network?

The FCC is looking for accredited counsellors who have training and experience in working with survivors of gender-based violence. As a part of our roster, you will provide counselling sessions free of charge to clients that meet the FCC's eligibility criteria and subsequently be reimbursed by the FCC. As a member of this roster, you will not be an employee of the FCC but will be compensated on a per-session basis for your services as an independent contractor. This flexible opportunity allows you to contribute meaningfully to our mission while still managing your own practice. You'll also be part of a team that is committed to the principles of collective care, acknowledging our shared responsibility to support those who are providing care. We action these principles through regular debriefing meetings, training sessions, and networking opportunities, offered at no charge to roster counsellors.
Counsellors will be compensated at a rate of $150/session. There is no guarantee of hours.
FCC is committed to building a diverse team and encourages expressions of interest from candidates of equity-deserving groups who bring important perspectives to this work.
